At the end of the
season, each youth member shall have on file in the KMSHA office
a signed log sheet containing their volunteer hours and
fundraiser participation hours. These combined hours will be totaled for
the final tabulation of the Grand Champion Youth Versatility Award. The
KMSHA score sheets and the signed log sheets by the regional
representative will be the final accounting of each members accumulated
points. A Grand Champion in both age divisions (11 and under, 12-17)
will be announced at the KMSHA banquet, and the winners with receive a
trophy and a monetary award. In the event of a tie, the juvenile who has
received the highest scores in the Individual Versatility Challenge on
the National Level will be deemed the winner (see section III A).

This award has been designed
to have fun, educate, and encourage participation by our juveniles by
offering fun activities the juvenile can participate and receive points. |

Activities: |

the Juveniles what it really is and why it is important for the DQP
to examine the horse and have the farrier give and educational
class on the importance of hoof care.

defining the correct gait and determining the division your horse
belongs

Trail Rides – 3 points per ride
(up to 12 points) |

Horse Care – 5 points (up to 10
points) Attend a
show where the raffle colt will be on display. Participate in
the care, feeding, grooming and presentation of the colt at the
show. Earn fundraising hours at the same time by staying in the
booth and selling raffle tickets!

4. |
Bake Sale – 1 point for each
contribution (up to 5 total) Bring a selection of baked
goods to a sanctioned event, and offer them for sale. You could
earn up to 5 points for each event!

|
5. |
Fun Day Activities – points based
upon the activity. Fun Day activities could be held in
conjunction with a trail ride and/or clinic. Suggestions
include:

Water glass – 2 points
·
Egg & spoon – 3 points
·
Bareback – 1 point
·
Mentor and me – 5 points
·
Bake Sale – 1 point for each
contribution up to 5 total (this would also be a
fundraiser)

Flag Carriers - carry flag for the
opening ceremony of a KMSH sanctioned show - 3 points (up to 12
points) |

C. |
At the end of the season,
each youth member shall have on file in the KMSHA office a log sheet

activities points. These scores will be totaled for the final tabulation
of the Overall Regional Youth Versatility Award. The KMSHA score sheets
and the signed log sheets by the regional representative will be the
final accounting of each members accumulated points. An Overall Regional
Youth Champion in both age divisions (11 and under, 12-17) will be
announced at the KMSHA banquet. A medal and special jacket with the
youth logo on it will be presented to the winners in both age divisions.
In the event of a regional tie, the juvenile exhibitor with the highest
combined points in showmanship and equitation shall be deemed the
winner. |

It will be the responsibility of the Youth
Member’s parent, and regional representative to keep track of the youth
member’s volunteer hours, fun activity points and fund raiser events.
A completed, signed log sheet from the regional representative must be
returned to the KMSHA office for the final determination of year end
awards. |

Individual Versatility
Challenge Awards |

A. |
National Level:
At pre-selected national shows, youth will receive an individual
versatility award for that show with paybacks and points established in
accordance with the KMSHA high point program. Classes which will count
for this award are:

Juvenile 11 & under Country Trail Pleasure

Juvenile 11 & under Trail Pleasure

Juvenile 11 & under Classic Pleasure
-
Juvenile 11 & under Mini-Trail Obstacle (3 obstacles)
-
Juvenile 12-17 Country Trail Pleasure

Juvenile 12-17 Trail Pleasure

Juvenile 12-17 Classic Pleasure

Juvenile 12-17 Park Pleasure

Juvenile 12-17 Junior Trail Obstacle (5 obstacles)
The trail obstacle event
will only have one horse and one rider entry. All under saddle
divisions (i.e. country trail, trail, classic, or park pleasure) will be
counted for high points, thus demonstrating the versatility of the
juvenile rider.
At the conclusion of all
Juvenile classes, points will be tabulated and the KMSHA YOUTH
MEMBER with the most points will be declared the Youth
Versatility Champion in their juvenile division (11 & under, 12-17)
for that National Show and will receive a gold medal. If there is a tie,
the high point winner in the trail obstacle course will determine the
individual national winner. |

B. |
Regional Level:
At pre-selected Kentucky Regional Shows, youth will receive an
individual versatility award for that show with paybacks and points
established in accordance with the KMSHA high point program. Regional representatives outside of Kentucky may also elect to give away
a Regional Youth Versatility Award and may contact the office for
information. Classes which will count for this award are:

Juvenile 11 & under Western Pleasure

Juvenile 11 & under Equitation*

Juvenile 11 & under Showmanship*
*Juvenile 11 and under have the option of
choosing between competing in the Equitation class and/or Showmanship
Class.

Juvenile 12-17 Showmanship
Each rider may enter any or
all under saddle classes with multiple horses. At the conclusion of all
Juvenile classes points will be tabulated and the KMSHA YOUTH
MEMBER with the most points will be declared the Youth
Versatility Champion in their juvenile division (11 & under, 12-17)
for that Regional Show and will receive a gold medal. If there is a tie,
the high point winner in the Western Pleasure class will determine the
individual regional winner. |

It
is important to note that ONLY those exhibitors who are KMSHA
YOUTH MEMBER’S (by holding a current Juvenile Rider's Card) will be counted for the Youth Versatility
Challenge Awards, Grand Champion Youth Versatility Champion
and Overall Regional Youth Award. Points
will begin on the date of the youth member’s application and
registration into the program. |
