The Spotted Mountain Horse Association

Membership in the Spotted Mountain Horse Association comes with a wide range of benefits for you and your family to enjoy.  Registration and certification fees are offered at reduced rates for KMSHA members.  In addition, members receive a subscription to the Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse News, which lists trail rides, shows, and other equine events located across the states throughout the year.  There is always an activity to participate in for you and your horse.

SMHA SCHEDULE OF FEES FOR SERVICES
Temporary Registration (and prior to certification):
Foals 1 to 6 months old:		$ 30
Foals 6 months or older:		$ 55
** Stallions, Fillies, or Geldings - if one parent or neither parent is SMHA  registered/certified to breed, the foal must be filmed or observed by a minimum one licensed KMSHA examiner. *** Front 2006 forward - all foals are required to have DNA on record for proof of identity upon certification and before permanent registration.
Permanent Registration:  All KMSHA and SMHA Horses must be certified to breed by their fourth birthday.  Temporary registration certificate will expire on any KMSHA/SMHA 4 year old horse who is not certified as of December 31, 2006 and thereafter on their fourth birthday. If the registration papers have expired on any horse due to this directive, new papers will  be issued only upon completion of official Certification of each horse. This applies to all Stallions, Mares and Geldings and will certify that they have now met the "Standard of the Breed".
Certification of Mares and Geldings Under Saddle:		$ 30
Certification of Stallions Under Saddle:		$ 40
Requirements for Above: (temporary registration certification, video or two licensed examiners' signatures, plus 5 photos: back, front, both sides, under the chin)
Registration/Certification of Mares and Geldings		$65
Currently don't have a sire or dam registered and certified with the SMHA
Registration/Certification of Stallions		$75
Currently don't have a sire or dam registered and certified with SMHA
Requirements for above:  Both an Under Saddle and Conformation video or two licensed examiners' signatures are required, plus 5 photos: back, front, both sides, under the chin.
