2008 is over and what a great year it was for the
KMSHA and SMHA breeds and show circuit! The horseshow season started
strong with the Spring Premier held in Owingsville, Kentucky.
Beautiful spotted horses took to the ring with both their peers and
their solid color competitors to show off their abilities. Many
familiar faces as well as new ones helped get the show season
started with a bang.
July brought a change of venue for the KMSHA/SMHA
State Championship show. A new venue brought out a record number of
horses and spectators for this championship show. Held this year for
the first time in historic Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, it proved to be a
good place for both breeds to again show off their talent and
beauty.
In October, exhibitors and horses from all over the
United States and Canada headed to the Kentucky Horse Park for the
Forth Annual International Grand Championship Horse Show. Spirits
were high and the weather beautiful in central Kentucky as a record
number of exhibitors and horses from all over the United States and
Canada competed for the title of Champion in their division.
This is the one time a year that horses and riders
from the different regions get to overcome the distance barrier and
compete together. It is also a wonderful chance to see old friends
and make new ones and maybe find that perfect horse to take back
home.
The hard work and dedication of exhibitors paid off
at the Christmas Party/Awards Banquet held at the end of the show
season. Congratulations to all of this year’s high point winners!
