The stunning and talented
KMSHA stallion Shepherd’s Snowy River, winner of the Kentucky
Mountain International Trail Pleasure Grand Championship, is owned
by Chad and Sandy Shepherd of Ginger Ridge Farm in Clay City,
Kentucky.
Shepherd’s Snowy River has been the
pride and joy of Ginger Ridge since Chad’s mother and father gave
the six-month old colt to their son. "Paul Willis has had Snowy
River in training since 2005 after our stallion Harley Boy coliced
in 2004," said Sandy. "Chad told Paul about his old stallion (Snowy
River) who had not been in a show ring for seven years. Paul said
‘Let’s try him’ and approximately four weeks later we took him to a
show in Georgetown, Kentucky."
Well, you would have never known
that Snowy River had been out of the ring for so long, he won all
three classes that he was entered in, and it has been up hill ever
since. "River" has won the Master Stallion Championship in
‘05,’06,’07, and ‘08 at the Kentucky Mountain International Horse
Show, and other championship titles for Mountain Horses. He also won
the ‘07 Stallion Trail Pleasure Tri State Show in Indiana, the trail
pleasure at the White Mountain Tennessee Show, and several other
prestigious Mountain Horse grand and reserve championships in ‘07
and ‘08. This year at the International, "River" won the trail
pleasure and stallion trail pleasure with a unanimous judge’s
decision. If that wasn’t enough, he then won the Grand Championship!
Trainer Paul Willis says "River" is
the smoothest gaited trail horse he has ever ridden. He passes on
his great temperament and gait to his offspring that are doing great
in the ring and on the trail.
Thank you Paul Willis, Mike Bowen, Jeff Yarber, and
all of our friends for encouraging us to show Snowy River. Most of
all thank you Snowy River; we will let you do your famous river
dance. For breeding contact Chad and Sandy at Ginger Ridge Farms in
