SANCTIONING:
“AA” National Show (KBIF Pointed) or “A” Fun Show

 

Registration and Certification will be available at all National and most Regional Shows

 “A” KMSHA/SMHA Fun Shows dress is casual but should be clean and tidy.

Riders who wish to compete for KMSHA/SMHA High Point awards at the end of the show season are required to be members of the KMSHA, hold a current rider’s card and ride a KMSHA/SMHA registered and certified horse.

 

General Information: KMSHA/SMHA Open classes are open to horses of any sex or age registered with the Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse Association and Spotted Mountain Horse Association and to any  riders other than juveniles.  SMHA classes are only open to those horses registered with the SMHA. 

 

Championship Classes: In order to compete in a championship class a horse must have shown in and completed a qualifying class in a division addressed by the championship class.

 

Other Important information: Current negative coggins and health certificate are required for each  horse brought to the show grounds. Individuals on federal or certified HIO suspension/disqualification may not transport a horse to the show grounds and may not participate in the show in any way, except as a spectator. 

 

All individuals who desire to participate in KMSHA/SMHA classes must be a current member in good standing, possess a riders card and be able to present documentation showing that their horse is registered and certified with the KMSHA/SMHA.  E-mail us at offfice@kmsha.com.

Rulebook Updates 02.21.13

2013 - Changes to Show Rule Book "Please Make Note"

  1. On page 71 number 2 on the first line change rain to rein.
     

  2. On page 77 second to last line "being shown on the rail" should be change to "being shown in the trail walk. Also on the third to last line change "stop" to "halt".
     

  3. On page 124 number 3 should be changed from "Halt from show gait or trail walk while doing rail work" to "Halt from trail walk while doing rail work".
     

  4. On page 94 line nine the word "twenty" needs to be changed to "eighteen".
     

  5. On page 122 number 1 should be changed to read "A halt may be called for during the trail walk.
     

  6. KMSHA/SMHA Examiners & Rulebook Note: It is required that Stallions must have two descending testicles when checked for "Certification" approval in either breed registry KMSHA or SMHA. Absolute requirement for inspection at Shows for any Stallion conformation or under saddle class.
     

  7. During 2013 Show Season any horse who is found to have not been transferred and ownership is incorrect or not current on the KMSHA/SMHA Registration, the horse/owner will forfeit any and all winnings or KBIF points for the season, without contest.

 

 


MEETING DETAILS

KMSHA MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS - Meetings are held in our office in Lexington, KY, the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. Bring your favorite covered dish for pot luck at the meeting! KMSHA will provide the drinks.

KMSHA Trainer’s and Exhibitor Meetings/SAC SHOW ADVISORY COMMITTEE New members always welcome! Meetings are held in conjunction with the monthly membership meetings the second Tuesday of the month 6:30 p.m. at the KMSHA Office, Lexington, KY.

These meetings are open to ALL members! Please bring us your suggestions, we can use your help and support for the KMSHA show program. Volunteer for any one of the association’s listed committees. FMI call the office at 859-225-KMSH (5674), we’d appreciate if you would volunteer your services.
