 KMSHA DNA REQUIREMENTS FOR REGISTRATION

Mares and Stallions starting December 1, 2004 must have DNA on file with the KMSHA office for IDENTIFICATION PURPOSES ONLYNo horse will be eligible for registration/certification until DNA is on file in the KMSHA office
All fillies and colts must have DNA on file with the KMSHA office to receive temporary registration papers. All fillies and colts registered with the KMSHA on or after December 1, 2004 must be able to prove parentage to be eligible for full pedigree registration (if Parentage is not found to exist, either “Mountain Horse stock”, “Saddle Stock” or unknown will be listed on registration papers”)
Appendix mares must have DNA on file with the KMSHA office for IDENTIFICATION PURPOSES ONLY before registration and certification papers will be issued.
Appendix mares' offspring must be sired by a registered and certified KMSHA stallion for temporary registration papers to be issued. Offspring must have DNA on file with the KMSHA for temporary registration papers. Fillies and colts of appendix mares must be able to prove parentage to be eligible for full registration (if Parentage is found to exist).
NO DNA KITS
No DNA kits are available through the KMSHA/SMHA office. You will need to provide us with 20 to 30 tail hairs from the root and send it in along with your application for Registration and check, money order, or credit card information. You can either tape the hair to your application or a separate sheet of paper.
