This policy became effective December
1, 2004
Mares and stallions foaled prior to
December 1, 2006 must have DNA or blood results on file with the
KMSHA office for IDENTIFICATION PURPOSES ONLY. No
horse will be eligible for certification/registration or transfer of
ownership until DNA or blood results are on file in the KMSHA
office.
All fillies and colts foaled on or after
December 1, 2004 must have DNA or blood results on file with the
KMSHA office for PROOF OF PARENTAGE before temporary
registration papers will be issued. All fillies and colts
registered with the KMSHA on or after December 1, 2004 must have two
registered and certified parents to be eligible for full
registration.
Appendix mares must have DNA or blood
results on file with the KMSHA office for IDENTIFICATION PURPOSES
ONLY before registration and certification papers will be
issued.
Appendix mares' offspring must be sired
by a registered and certified KMSHA stallion for temporary
registration papers to be issued. Offspring must have DNA or
blood results on file with the KMSHA for PROOF OF PARENTAGE
before registration papers will be issued. Fillies of appendix
mares will be eligible for full registration and certification.
Colts of appendix mares must be gelded before certification and
permanent registration papers will be issued.

DNA kits
can be purchased from the office for a charge of $41.00. We
can complete the paperwork for you. You will need to provide us with
20 to 30 tail hairs from the root and send it in along with a check,
money order, or credit card information.
