The Kentucky Mountain Saddle
Horse filly STF Lydia, owned by Debbie and John Goheen of Spirit
Trail Farm in Cynthiana, Kentucky, became the 20,000th registered
horse with the Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse Association. The
Goheen’s, who have 14 Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horses, won a
lifetime single membership with the KMSHA and a flat screen color
television set.
"Many thanks to the KMSHA
for the wonderful prizes," said Debbie. "It is fantastic that STF
Lydia is the 20,000th horse. We thought she was born around the
right time, and just hoped we’d get lucky."
STF Lydia is sired by Elton
John, and out of the double registered conformation and under saddle
champion Deamon’s Midnight Madness. "She is very special to me,"
Debbie continued. "I have been breeding Kentucky Mountain Saddle
Horses for several years, and I have been waiting for a chocolate
filly. She was my made to order girl, complete with an outgoing and
sassy personality." John and Debbie, an accountant by trade, are
living their dream of raising Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horses, along
with a few goats, rabbits, and various breeds of poultry.
"I plan to keep Lydia for my
personal riding horse," Debbie said. "I will probably have her in
the show ring next year. I don’t currently have any plans to show,
but who knows, I may decide to enter her in the KMSHA International
in October."
Congratulations to STF
Lydia, Debbie and John for their winning registration!
